Segment of Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail to Close for Pedestrian Safety Upgrades

Construction is expected to start in early October and be completed by November 2012.

The city of Minnetonka is constructing pedestrian safety improvements at the Williston Road intersection of the Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail. The trail will be closed and a detour route will be provided throughout construction. Trail users are asked to use caution and follow the posted detour route.

The current trail crossing is located 50 feet south of the existing intersection of Williston Road and Minnetonka Boulevard; the proposed improvements will realign a portion of the trail on both sides to cross at the signalized intersection. The current trail crossing is 65 feet wide; the improved trail crossing will be 10 feet narrower with the addition of a pedestrian refuge island at the free right eastbound turn on to Minnetonka Boulevard. The traffic signal will be improved in the future to meet new ADA standards for pedestrian crossings.

The construction is expected to start in early October and be completed by November 2012.
