Pair of Lake Minnetonka Public Beaches Close Due to Elevated Bacteria

As the dog days of summer stretch on, two of Lake Minnetonka's most popular public beaches have been closed by Hennepin County due to elevated bacteria levels.

Two of Lake Minnetonka's public beaches have been closed in recent days due to elevated levels of bacteria.

Hennepin County Public Health ordered Wayzata's municipal beach closed last Thursday, and Summit Beach in Orono was closed on Tuesday. Both beaches were found to have elevated levels of E Coli.

Exactly what levels the bacteria were measured at is unclear, and inquiries submitted to Hennepin County had not been answered as of this posting.

It's likewise unclear if bacterial levels at other Lake Minnetonka beaches has been found to be abnormal.
