Orono XC Team Captures Conference Championship
Section championships will be run next week in Hutchinson.
The Orono High School boys’ cross-country team edged Wright County Conference rival Mound Westonka for its second conference championship in three years. The conference meet was run last week at Litchfield Golf Course.
The Spartans were powered by the fourth, fifth and sixth-place finishes of Brady Koetting, Paul Brauchle and Ben Hacker.
Koetting, Brauchle and Hacker, as well as Mike Choiniere, were named All-Conference while Keith Ketola, Josh Surver and Gabe Van Dyck received honorable mention.

The team now heads to section championships Oct. 27 at Hutchinson High School.
The girls’ cross-country team finished in 5th place. Chelsea Fleitman and Grace Leslie were named All-Conference; Samantha White honorable mention.
