'Oake on the Water' Kicks Off Ninth Season Back Where it all Began

Host of popular summer series says Lake Minnetonka does "it" as well as anyone.

It's been almost a decade since Cities 97 and DJ Brian Oake came to Excelsior to try out a new summer series.

On Thursday, several hundred people welcomed "Oake on the Water" back to the for the ninth season of lakeside broadcasts. Lakes throughout the metro area host the show each week from May through August, and Lake Minnetonka is a regular in the rotation.

"(Lake) Minnetonka is just a good fit," Oake said. "Oake on the Water is about celebrating the summer lifestyle in Minnesota, which largely revolves around the water because there's so much of it, and Minnetonka does it as well as anybody."

Great work Jay. I had the pleasure of being there yesterday. It is a great Lake Minnetonka tradition and it's great to see everyone out enjoying the weather again.
