UPDATE: Photos from Lake Minnetonka's Controlled Burns

Excelsior Commons, Harrison Bay and Old Orchard Park are all part of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District's Shoreline Restoration Project.

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District conducted prescribed burns Thursday afternoon at three locations around Lake Minnetonka.

Harrisons Bay in Mound near County Road 110, Excelsior and Old Orchard Park in Tonka Bay are part of the Lake Minnetonka Shoreline Restoration Project—meant to show homeowners and contractors how to work with a variety of shoreline conditions.

The first Shoreline Restoration Project site was completed in 2005 at the headwaters of Minnehaha Creek at Gray’s Bay.

The remaining four sites were stabilized during the summer of 2009.
