Hennepin County Calls Public Meeting to Discuss Safety of Wayzata Boulevard

Residents have expressed safety concerns along the stretch of highway, and Hennepin County has called a public meeting to discuss possible improvements.

The public is invited to attend an open house from 5–7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, to discuss improvements along the Wayzata Boulevard corridor (Highway 112) from County Road 6 to Hwy. 12.

The open house will take place at Lake Community Bank in the Community Room, located at 1964 Wayzata Boulevard West in .

Wayzata Boulevard is an important four-mile long corridor servicing the cities of Long Lake and . A design team is evaluating the roadway to identify potential improvements to provide a safer and more efficient transportation corridor that will better meet regional and community needs.

Residents and business owners will be able to speak with staff from Hennepin County and the consultant, SRF Consulting Group, Inc. about better incorporating local priorities, including pedestrian mobility and safety, parking, bike trail connectivity, convenience, maintenance costs and access.

“Community input is very important to the Wayzata Boulevard project,” said Hennepin County Transportation Director Jim Grube. “We want to make this area safe and efficient for all users.”
