Girl Struck and Killed While Crossing Highway in Chanhassen

Aimiee Trudeau was attempting to cross Hwy. 101 with her bike when she was hit by a car just south of Minnetonka.

A 12-year-old girl was hit by a car Wednesday afternoon while crossing Hwy. 101 in Chanhassen. She died six hours later as a result of her injuries.

Aimee Trudeau attended Oak Point Elementary School in Eden Prairie, and crisis counselors were at the school Thursday, according to reports.

Trudeau was struck by a southbound vehicle while attempting to cross the highway with her bicycle. First responders from throughout the surrounding area responded to the scene.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has ruled the death an accident, although the Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the incident. The driver of the vehicle has not yet been identified.

Trudeau was struck at the intersection of Hwy. 101 and Lotus View Drive, about three miles southeast of Excelsior and just south of the Minnetonka border. A roadside memorial has been constructed at the site by friends, family and community members.
