Expect to be Detoured During Dakota Rail Trail Upgrades

Section of popular trail in Mound will close next month for safety improvements.

A section of the will be closed starting next month so workers can construct trail crossing safety improvements where the regional trail crosses County Road 15 (Shoreline Drive) in Mound.

The project is funded through a cost-participation agreement between the , Hennepin County and .

The trail crossing safety improvements include a trail realignment to improve sightlines for motorists and trail users, an extended median island for trail users to safely cross one direction of traffic at a time and an expanded curb queuing/pedestrian ramp area on both sides to improve visibility of the trail crossing location for trail users and motorists.

The trail is expected to be closed between Fairview Lane and County Road 110 in Mound beginning in early August. The duration of the project is dependent upon weather and other factors, but the closure is expected to be in place between four and six weeks.

During that time, trail users should follow the posted detour routes.
