Postponed: Controlled Burns Planned for Today

Three burns were scheduled for Monday afternoon.

Three separate controlled burns scheduled for today around Lake Minnetonka have been postponed, according to The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District

Wetlands in Excelsior, Tonka Bay and Mound had been scheduled to be burned beginning around 1 p.m.

The areas are burned every few years to get rid of invasive plants and thatch layer, which according to the watershed district allows native plants used to fire to flourish and aids in maintaining the wetland's ecological balance.
