Down on the Farm: August News and Notes from Gale Woods

Gale Woods Farm in Minnetrista features a variety of educational opportunities where visitors of all ages can learn about agriculture, food production and land stewardship.

Grilling Bundles Available!
In keeping with the grilling season, is offering you a Grilling Bundle. There are a limited number of bundles available and they are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Full payment in advance is required to reserve a Bundle and pick up takes place during our visitor center and store hours.

The cost for a Grilling Bundle is $75 and consists of the following: 1 whole chicken, 2 packages of lamb chops, 1 sirloin steak, 2 packages of bone-in pork chops, 1 package of polish sausage, 1 package of pre-formed beef patties, 1 package of beef kabob/stew meat, and 1 package of beef wieners.

If you purchased these cuts separately, you would pay approximately $87. By purchasing our Grilling Bundle you save $12. Call 763.694.2001 to reserve your Bundle now! We accept cash, credit card and checks. Our visitor center and store is open 9 AM-5 PM Monday through Saturday and 12-5 PM on Sunday.

Seasonal Farm Bouquets 
In addition to the wonderful vegetables that are harvested every week, we have a new exciting crop that came to the scene at Gale Woods Farm this year…cut flowers! We have added over 20 different varieties to our gardens and are selling our fresh farm bouquets during our Farm Market days (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-6:30 PM). Reduce your carbon footprint by buying locally and sustainably grown flowers from Gale Woods Farm. The bees and the environment will thank you!

Registration Deadline Approaching for Breakfast on the Farm
Saturday, August 18, 8:30 AM-Noon
Start your weekend with a farm-fresh breakfast made from locally grown foods. Enjoy live music while eating in a beautiful farm setting. Walk around the farm, meet the farm animals, and explore the gardens. Reservations required; registration deadline is August 15. Learn more.

How-To Workshop: Build and Bake Bread Oven Class
Saturday, September 8, 9 AM-4 PM
Join David S. Cargo to learn how to build a portable stacked-brick oven. After the oven is built, it will be fired up while students learn how to make dough for flatbreads, pizza, and bread. Bake all these in the brick oven and then eat them! Reservations required; deadline is September 6. Learn more.
