Donation Scores Some New Gear for Wayzata F.D.

CenterPoint Energy presented a check to city for purchase of new fire department equipment.

The Wayzata Fire Department will soon be equipped with some new atmospheric gas monitors thanks to a donation made this week by CenterPoint Energy.

Luke Litteken, a district manager with CenterPoint Energy, presented a check for $800 to Mayor Ken Willcox during Tuesday night’s city council meeting.

“The CenterPointe Energy Community Partnership Program is really an opportunity for CenterPoint Energy to partner with local police and fire departments to support our shared commitment to safety,” Litteken said.

Centerpointe Energy is currently in the process of replacing a major gas line in Wayzata, and construction crews have been excavating the north side of Wayzata Boulevard for the last few weeks. Mayor Willcox joked that the timing of Tuesday’s check was choreographed to quell questions about how much longer the digging will last.

“This will help,” Willcox chuckled.
