Four workshops will be held in the Community Room at Wayzata City Hall, including:

  • June 1 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • June 6 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
  • June 11 from 5 p.m.-9 p.m.
  • June 20 from 7 a.m.-9 a.m.

The dates, times, length and format of these workshops have been planned with careful consideration in order to best accommodate community members' schedules. There are options to participate both in the morning and evening as well as weekend and weekday sessions.

There also are varying lengths, including two and four-hour sessions. All sessions will cover the same content and follow a similar flow. The biggest difference between the two is that the long version will include a more structured group walking tour to explore and photograph the lakefront experience. In the shorter version, the walk will happen virtually within in the Community Room.

Community members may register for one or all of the workshops taking place in June by signing up online at WayzataLakeEffect.com or calling 651.293.6860.

Workshops are free and open to the public.

Making the Transition from Phase I to Phase II

The City of Wayzata has set out to create a community-embraced vision for one of the City's most important and enduring assets - its relationship to Lake Minnetonka. This 16-month process is broken down into three phases. The first phase took place from September 2012 though January 2013.

Input was gathered through a variety of activities such as special events, small group sessions, community-led committees, interviews, surveys and online forums. The responses were compiled and used to create a set of value statements that reflect the community's aspirations for the future of the lakefront. These values will become the framework to evaluate project ideas and to guide future development.

During Phase II, which will take place from May through September 2013, a series of activities including workshops, online forum and a survey will help to translate the community values into specific project ideas and design concepts to create a development framework for Wayzata.
