Community Meeting Called to Discuss Wetland Rehab Project in Mound

Pastor Mike Michalk has a vision to clean up a pond/wetland on Bartlett Boulevard and build a trail around it, along with educational signage and benches.

Members of the community are invited on Sunday evening, Dec. 2, from 6-7 p.m. to the Fellowship Hall (ground level) of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Mound for a discussion about an exciting project for the Mound community.

Pastor Mike Michalk has a vision to clean up a pond/wetland on Bartlett Boulevard and build a trail around it, along with educational signage and benches. He envisions school children, scouting groups and local residents learning and working together to enhance this little wetland to make it a better habitat for native species of wildlife and plants, and creating a gem of an educational and recreational resource in the neighborhood.

Pastor Mike recently submitted a grant proposal to the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District and will be talking about that process. Staff from the City of Mound have visited the site with Mike and expressed their full support and cooperation on the proposed project.
