Clearing Skies Bring Feeding Frenzy to Shallows

Good crappie and sunfish catches were being reported Sunday night.

After 48 hours of stormy weather, skies over Lake Minnetonka cleared long enough for fishermen to take advantage of a good panfish bite Sunday night.

Fishing from the shoreline on Gray's Bay, buddies Colt Stewart and Tom Schultz of Minnetonka were among about a dozen anglers wetting a line as the sun set Sunday. Several other boats drifted in the waters nearby.

Most seemed to be finding success.

"Other people will probably say different, but I've found fish really begin feeding after storms like the ones we've had the last few days," Stewart said, pointing to a bucket of fish near his feet. "We've been here about 20 minutes and have six nice fish. That's a good day for me."
