Campus News: Find Out Which Lake Minnetonka College Kids are Making Headlines

Elise Engquist, an Excelsior resident and member of the Bowdoin College Class of 2015, was honored for academic excellence during the college's annual Sarah and James Bowdoin Day ceremony, which took place Sept. 28.

One hundred student-athletes are on the 2012 season football roster at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The Falcons are coached by Matt Walker. The roster includes:

  1. Luke Edlund of Mound
  2. Andy Lundgren of Independence
  3. Nick Schaub of Greenfield

Long Lake resident Jeffrey Freeman, majoring in theater studies at Emerson College, is part of Emerson Stage's production of The Grapes of Wrath as "Casy." Emerson's production is directed by Maureen Shea, and will run from Oct. 18 through Oct. 21 in the Semel Theater (10 Boylston Place, Boston) at Emerson College. Berklee College of Music announces that Peter Quirsfeld of Deephaven has earned placement on the Dean's List for the summer semester of the 2012 academic year. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above.

Northwestern College in St. Paul announces that Rudolph Heuer, son of Dean and Karen Heuer of Greenfield will be participating in the Piano Tour 2012. Tour dates and locations are as follows:

  • Sunday, Oct. 21 in Elk River, Minn. and St. Croix Falls, Wis.
  • Monday, Oct. 22 in Stillwater, Minn.

Heuer is currently a freshman pursuing a degree in Music Performance. He is a 2012 homeschool graduate.

St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, welcomes Emily D. Phelps of Long Lake as a member of the class of 2016.

The following local students have been admitted to Carleton College as a member of the Class of 2016.

  • Jessica Ibri of Excelsior. She is the daughter of Thierry Ibri and Shelly Ibri. Jessica is a graduate of Minnetonka High School.
  • Rahul Uppal of Medina. He is the son of Navin Uppal and Bindu Uppal. Rahul is a graduate of Blake Schools - Upper School.

UW-River Falls has some 6,383 students enrolled for fall semester. Area students include:
