15 Lake Minnetonka College Students Excelling at St. Olaf College

Lake Minnetonka communities were well represented at St. Olaf's "Honors Day" earlier this month—which recognizes students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

The following local residents were among nearly 900 St. Olaf College students who were recognized for academic achievement at the college's annual Honors Day convocation on May 3.

Honors Day recognizes students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The convocation also recognizes students who have been awarded scholarships and fellowships, including Fulbright scholars, Goldwater scholars and senior members of leadership and academic honor societies.

Rachel Bash from Long Lake is a psychology and chemistry major. She is the daughter of Michael and Ruth Bash.

Heidi Beckman from Excelsior is a French major. She is the daughter of Christopher Beckman and Gayle Beckman.

Abigail Engelhart from Minnetrista is a history and political science major. She is the daughter of Randall and Elizabeth Engelhart.

Lydia Kantor from Long Lake is a Spanish and history major. She is the daughter of Robert and Monique Kantor.

Ashley Kershaw from Mound is a social work major. She is the daughter of Allan and Hye Kershaw.

Anne Lips from Orono is a biology major. She is the daughter of Daniel and Martha Lips.

Alyssa Lund from Greenfield is a sociology/anthropology major. In addition, she was awarded membership in Alpha Kappa Delta. She is the daughter of David and Linda Lund.

Maya MacGibbon from Excelsior is an undecided major. She is the daughter of Doug MacGibbon and Ann Lavelle.

Whitney Magnuson from Independence is a computer science and economics major. She is the daughter of Ardy Magnuson and Julie Brown.

Julienne Ness from Excelsior is an undecided major. She is the daughter of Paul and Alyssa Ness.

David Peterjohn from Excelsior is a theater major. In addition, he was awarded membership in Alpha Psi Omega. He is the son of David and Sally Peterjohn.

Marc Richards from Orono is an undecided major. He is the son of Paul and Diane Richards.

Amanda Tunheim from Orono is an undecided major. She is the daughter of Robert and KatherineTunheim.

Rachel Turbeville from Mound is an economics and mathematics major. She is the daughter of Brain and Ann Turbeville.

Margaret Weiss from Excelsior is a music, history and Spanish major. She is the daughter of Tad and Wendy Weiss.

The ceremony began with a colorful academic procession led by St. Olaf President David R. Anderson '74, and was followed by a reception for students, parents, friends of the college, faculty and staff.
