Update: Downtown Wayzata Remains Open for Business Despite Lake Street Closure

The contractor will be working to open the Lake Street and Broadway Avenue intersection to through traffic as soon as the pressure test has passed.

The Met Council has begun work on Phase 2—Grove Lane to Broadway Avenue—of the forcemain project to include restoration of streets, sidewalks, and streetscape.

The new forcemain has been installed across Lake Street, up to the Broadway intersection. The contractor will now be filling the pipe with water and performing a pressure test on the entire pipeline between the marina and Broadway Avenue. The contractor will be working to open the Lake Street and Broadway Avenue intersection to through traffic as soon as the pressure test has passed. The contractor will be finalizing the connection at Broadway Avenue early next week.

  • Access to and from the municipal parking lot, at Sunsets, will be maintained.
  • The public parking ramp, in the 600 Block, is accessible from both Broadway Avenue and Walker Avenue.
  • The 600 Block businesses are open and the sidewalk to their entrances will remain accessible.

City staff will continue to work with the Met Council and the contractor to expedite the work and minimize the impacts of the closure.
