Minnesota Inboard Water Sports Breaks Ground on New Location

Excelsior business is moving one block west to a new building on Galpin Lake Road.

Minnesota Inboard Water Sports, Minnesota’s exclusive Malibu boat dealer and the No. 1 Malibu boat dealer in the U.S., will be moving to a new location this winter.

Having outgrown their current location, the Excelsior business will be moving just a block west to a new building—currently being constructed at the corner of Hwy. 7 and County Road 19. Move in is scheduled for January 2013, and a ground breaking ceremony took place Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Minnesota Inboard Water Sports is a proud family business, creating strong roots in the Excelsior and Lake Minnetonka communities, since its inception 20 years ago.  Joe Mueller, along with his wife, Pam, opened Minnesota Inboard Water Sports in Excelsior in January 1992. Since then, the company has grown to include sons Matt and Rob, as well as their daughter, Sara, growing from only two employees in 1992 to over 30 today.

Sales have more than tripled over the last two decades, making Minnesota Inboard the No. 1 dealer of direct drive inboard boats in the Midwest.

In addition to the Excelsior location, Minnesota Inboard Water Sports opened a second dealership in Baxter, MN, in the spring of 2006 to serve the Brainerd Lakes area—providing northern lakes residents a great selection of top-quality direct drive inboard boats.

Housed in a separate location, just west of the Excelsior dealership, in the city of New Germany, the service department is also an integral part of the business, allowing the company to service, winterize and store boats for customers.

Minnesota Inboard Water Sports will continue to operate in its current Excelsior location until the new building is completed in January 2013. Members of the community can follow the progress of the construction online or on Facebook.
