"We feel honored to have been voted for this award," said Julie Johnsen, who serves as the companies Vice President of Marketing and Sales. "We work extreamly hard to be involved with the customers during the entire renovation process. This award is special to us because we understand the qualities of the businesses around the lake and we also understand that the lake residents have many options to choose."

In addition to keeping busy with the many projects that Shoreline Builders has, the Johnsen's also are raising a family of four children, participating in many lake area organizations and spend time giving back to the communities they live in. They attend many local business organizations and events and participate in community activities.

"We love to be involved and to meet new people," Julie said. "Sometimes in this industry, the projects take so much time that the owners don't have the ability to get involved and to attend events, but with a husband and wife team like ours, it allows time for one of us to take part and network which has become a crucial piece of our business philosophy."

In addition to standard remodeling/building projects, Shoreline Builders also has come up with several creative project ideas. One particular project, termed the "man cave" has brought some additional attention to them due to the creativity of the design and the requests by the customers.

"Mitch spends time coming up with many of the creative projects," Johnsen said. "In this case the customer was asking for more than just a place to collect junk in the basement. They were looking for a retreat and with people staying home more in this economy, they tend to spend more time at home, so this was a perfect idea and we've sense created several more designs and ideas from it."

So how does Shoreline Builders follow up on a first place award as 2011 progresses into 2012? Listening to Julie speak, you can see the passion and commitment they have with each new project and she realizes that their continued customer service is imperative for their future success. "We love what we do and will continue to exceed our customers expectations!"

"The award just makes us want to work harder for our customers," she said. "We like to use it to challenge ourselves to become better every day at what we do. Mitch has always been involved on every step of the project with the customer, but this motivates us to make sure we look at every element of a project very carefully and never rest on our successes because there are always things we can do better. We also are continuing to market ourseleves locally since we want to be the remodeler of chose for the Lake Minnetonka and surronding communities. We just shot a video to show prospective customers our business and to introduce them to us."
