Excellent service and a welcoming smile are what keep customers coming back to Five Swans, the longest running gift store in Wayzata. Established in 1966 by Bob and Betty Jo Ogren, the store soon became the go-to place for everyone’s wedding, birthday and holiday gift shopping.

As one of the nominees said, “I’ve been shopping at Five Swans since I moved to Wayzata in 1972. I was treated like an old friend the first time I shopped there. If I don’t know what I am looking for, they do. They always come up with the best ideas for that hard to shop for person. And the array of options is simply amazing.”

Great Service and repeat customers are not new for Five Swans. They have developed a following over the years, and their experience with some customers goes back three generations. As a longtime customer said, “Five Swans is a one of a kind, corner store retailer. They artfully blend the things you crave with a knowledgeable sales force that lets you browse without hovering. And they are genuinely pleased when you buy. I have traveled extensively and live part time in Florida and have yet to find a store that can compete.”

When you walk into Five Swans in their new location at 315 East Lake Street, you feel energized. The sun streaming in through the south windows makes the displays glisten. You could spend hours just wandering about observing all the beautiful, unique products. But what makes the experience even better is the warmth of the staff.

A sign on their wall says it all: “At Five Swans we promise to offer the joy of friendships-new and old, the magic of birthday wishes, the warmth of winter holidays, the thrill of a surprise party, the delight of springtime, fireworks on the 4th of July, the bliss of a wedding, and the wonder of a new baby, all wrapped up in one perfect gift experience!”
