Freshwater Society Hosts Conference Examining Precision Conservation

The Freshwater Society and co-sponsors will host a March 29 conference on precision conservation, the science and philosophy of targeting conservation practices to places on the landscape where they do the most good.

Dave White, chief of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, will be the keynote speaker. The conference will explore new technologies, many of them based on Light Detection and Ranging –LiDAR – mapping that allow precise targeting of conservation practices in both rural and urban settings.

The conference will be held at Silverwood Park in St. Anthony, Minn. For information and to register, go to www.freshwater.org.
