Water Patrol Rescues Occupants of Sinking Boat

Exactly how the boat came under duress remains unclear.

The Hennepin County Water Patrol responded just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday to a report of a boat sinking on Lake Minnetonka near Casco Point in Spring Park. Three people were on the boat, and all were wearing life jackets.

The Water Patrol arrived at the scene and assisted occupants from the boat. No injuries were reported, and deputies towed the boat to shore.

The vessel was submerged up to its wheelhouse, and remained in the water as of this posting. The owner will make arrangements to have the boat removed.

Buoys are currently surrounding the boat to alert nautical traffic to its whereabouts.

The sinking vessel was the first of two water emergencies responded to by the water patrol in less than two hours.
