Perfect Sailing Conditions

The ILYA Regatta on Lake Minnetonka ends Sunday.

The 2011 Inland Lake Yachting Association’s (ILYA) Annual Championship Regatta, hosted by Minnetonka Yacht Club (MYC), ends on Sunday.

At the end of the regatta, over 1,000 sailors will have competed for the award of top Scow class racer in the United States. Competitors include some of the top sailors in the world.

Over 200 scows are competing in the regatta's four classes: A (38 feet), E (28 feet), C (20 feet) and MC (16 feet).

Races begin on Friday at 10:00 a.m. and continue all day on Saturday.

The regatta ends after the races on Sunday morning. Spectator boats are available for people to watch the races.

The ILYA Regatta started on White Bear Lake in 1987. Minnetonka Yacht Club last hosted the event in 2001.
