Local Halloween Happenings for the Entire Family

Coming up this weekend, Minnetonka and surrounding areas will be home to haunted houses, trick-or-treating, ghost trolleys, pet parties and more. Have a Halloween event you want to add? Send it to jay.corn@patch.com for inclusion.

We've compiled a list of local spooky happenings to enjoy this week... if you dare. Add your own spooky events to the end of the list to let your neighbors know what's happening this weekend.


When: Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Downtown Wayzata
Why go: Trolley rides, face painting, free hotdogs and soda, apple bobbing, bouncy house, pumpkin carving (must register ahead of time), cookie decorating, Halloween crafts, meet "Groovy Girl," Gargoyle photo opportunity, clowns, balloons, $3 kids meals, "Scare Hair,” a mystery activity and all the trick-or-treating you can imagine. New this year: Wayzata's Historical Word Scavenger Hunt.  
Price: Free

Annual Booseum and Ghost Trolley    
When: Oct. 28 and 29 from 6-9 p.m.
Where: 305 Water Street in Excelsior
Why go: This family-friendly Halloween event includes entertainment on stage, concessions, a trolley ride down the spooky trail and a trip through the haunted museum. The event is a fundraiser for the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society and the Minnesota Streetcar Museum.  
Price: $5 for kids (10 and under), $7 for adults

Haunted House 
When: Oct. 28 and Oct. 29 from 6-11 p.m. and Halloween from 6-9 p.m.
Where: 27655 Island View Road in Excelsior
Why go: Flyers are hung all around town, so you might as well find out what this haunted house is all about.
Price: $1

Halloween Farm Fun
When: Oct. 29 from 5-9 p.m.
Where: Gale Woods Farm, 7210 County Road 110 West in Minnetrista
Why go: Dress in costume for family fun at the farm with Gale Woods and Lowry Nature Center. Walk on the wild side through a garden trail of entertaining costumed characters and visit with the Mad Scientist, who will amaze you with nature's kooky creations. Meet a live owl and tour the barn to see the farm animals. Relax at a bonfire for stories and songs. make crafts, play games to win prizes and have Halloween treats from the farm. 
Price: $7/day-of. $9/pre-registration, includes a reservation for a horse-drawn wagon ride. Children under 2 free.

GreyStone Manor
When: Oct. 28, Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 from 7-11 p.m. Hours on Halloween are 6:30-11 p.m.
Where: 5510 Mahoney Avenue in Minnetonka (a half mile south on County Road 101 from Highway 7)
Why go: Back for its 15th year, GreyStone Manor is put on by a family with two goals: Create “spooktacular” family-friendly fun and collect food for the 
Price: Free with an item for the food shelf.


When: Oct. 30 from 12-3 p.m.
Where: , 13027 Ridgedale Drive in Minnetonka
Why go: Kids can trick-or treat the businesses located in Ridgesquare North Shopping Center. In the southwest corner where ClubKid is located, there will be free photos, face painting and art projects. 
Price: Free


When: Oct. 30 at noon
Where: , 6133 Baker Road in Minnetonka
Why go: The event features photo opportunities, a bounce house, treats from Howling Dogs Bakery, cupcakes from Sweet Retreat, tours of the ADOGO Pet Hotel and representatives from Can Do Canines and Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota (RAGOM).
Price: Free
