Wayzata senior Adam Moline could feel his dad in his corner on Friday. That’s part of the reason he was able to handle his emotions and win the Hamline Elite meet’s boys 1600 meter run. The last time Moline’s father saw him compete was at last year’s Class AA state meet at Hamline University. Andrew Brandt earned individual medalist honors as his one-over-par card of 73 led the Wayzata boys golf team to a team score of 302 and a six-stroke victory against Edina in a Lake Conference dual meet on Thursday at the Wayzata Country Club. It was the third win in as many tries for the Trojans, who defeated Eden Prairie in the season opener on April 21 and then won the White Bear Invitational on April 25. Wayzata was among the schools participating in the Tri-State Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Edinburgh USA Golf Course in Brooklyn Park.
The Mound-Westonka softball team improved to 5-0 on the season by topping Litchfield 10-0 in five inning at home on Friday. KatieJo Delisle earned the win by pitching five shutout innings, giving up four hits and walking two while striking out eight. It was Mound-Westonka's third shutout win of the year. Offensively, Litchfield couldn't match Mound-Westonka's strong performance at the plate. The White Hawks compiled 11 hits, drew seven walks and stole 11 bases on the day.
