Wayzata City Hall Takes Over Passport Processing from DMV

Due to a decision by the U.S. Department of State, Motor Vehicle Departments are no longer permitted to process passports applications.

Wayzata residents who applied for a passport earlier this year at the Wayzata Department of Motor Vehicle office will be visiting Wayzata City Hall.

Due to a decision by the U.S. Department of State, Motor Vehicle Departments are no longer permitted to process passports applications, according to the city. On May 1, 2013, Wayzata City Hall will take over passport photos and processing the applications for the DMV.

“We know that passport processing is an important service for our residents,” said Becky Malone, deputy clerk. “We found a way to continue to provide this service, despite the new rules.”

To schedule a passport application appointment, residents can now call Wayzata City Hall at 952-404-5306. For more information and application guidelines, visit Wayzata.org or travel.state.gov.
