Patch Collecting Questions for Obama and Romney During Next Presidential Debate

If you have a question for the candidates, submit it in the comments section below and it could be asked during the televised Oct. 16 Town Hall Presidential Debate.

If last Wednesday’s presidential debate left you with more questions than answers, here’s your chance for the presidential candidates to address the issues that most matter to you.

The next presidential debate will be a town hall meeting format at Hofstra University in Long Island, where voters will ask President Obama and Mitt Romney about domestic and foreign policy.

Lake Minnetonka Patch is asking you, our readers, to participate by submitting questions for the candidates.

All you have to do is post your question in the comments section below and we’ll send it to the Commission on Presidential Debates. The Commission is partnering with Patch's parent company Aol, along with Google and Yahoo, to take questions from web users across the country.

Don’t wait until Nov. 6 to have a say in this year’s election. Share your thoughts in the comments!

1) (For both of them) What is your stance on equal rights for gays? Do you believe that they deserve the right to donate blood, get married, and adopt?
2) (For Governor Romney) Governor, what do you think we will gain from getting rid of Planned Parenthood?
3) (For both) If you were to win the next term, would you begin pulling more troops out of Afghanistan or would you put more in?

Govenor Romney you are the elected representative of the Republican Party you have the right to turn to the President and ask the question: The American people want to know the TRUTH about Libya. Al quida is not dead they are alive and well and killing Americans. Why did you pull security out of Libya and then lie to the American people?

Both candidates have talked about reducing the deficit. However, reducing the national debt necessitates budget surpluses. What are each candidates strategies and timelines for running budget surpluses and paying down the National Debt. I'm 42 years old and have never seen this happen in my lifetime. Please elaborate. Thank you.

My brother is full time military. His wife works full time and he has starting working extra in his spare time to make ends meet while trying to support their 3 children. What would each candidate do to see that this sort of thing does not happen for other military families? Oh by they way he has been full time military since 1990. This sort of thing should never happen but has because of recent cuts in military funding.

To each of the candidates: As leader of your respective party. What will you do to lessen the partisan politics which are affecting all business in Washington and encourages a win at all cost mentality and what will you do to encourage a more representative productive form of government free of corporate money?

The belief that experience as a successful business man is why a person would be a good president is quite wrong. Making a company more profitable by laying-off employees and shipping their jobs overseas to avoid taxes and get cheap and often unqualified labor is not something the president can do with his citizens.

Romney is for throwing to the states things that the federal government should not be involved with (such as medicare) but issues like gay marriage and planned parenthood are issues that should be imposed by the federal government. this seems hypocritical, no?

For Romney - How can you repeal Obamacare and keep these promises?
First, that seniors in and entering Medicare over the next 10 years won’t have to pay more when repealing the law automatically reinstates the "donut hole" on prescription drugs?
Second, you won’t increase the deficit and borrow from China to pay for stuff when repealing the law eliminates the Medicare tax on investment income causing Medicare to go broke by 2016 unless another viable funding source identified and implemented?
Can you guarantee Americans that you can get legislation passed and implement in time to keep Medicare from running out of money?
