Excelsior will be buzzing with activity today as a summer tradition begins anew at the Bayside Grille and Fox Sports North welcomes Twins fans to Maynard's for a viewing party.

Cities 97 radio host Brian Oake returns to Lake Minnetonka this afternoon to kick off the 10th season of "Oake on the Water." A play off the Deep Purple song "Smoke on the Water," Lake Minnetonka was the site of the first "Oake on the Water" in 2002, and the veteran Minneapolis disc jockey has returned every summer since—often multiple times each season.

"(Lake) Minnetonka is just a good fit," Oake said last year while spinning from the patio of the Bayside Grille. "Oake on the Water is about celebrating the summer lifestyle in Minnesota, which largely revolves around the water because there's so much of it, and Lake Minnetonka does it as well as anybody."

This afternoon's show begins at 3 p.m. and is scheduled to run unitl about 7 p.m. It will be the first of nine visits "Oake on the Water" will make to Lake Minnetonka this summer. A complete schedule is attached to the end of this post.

Today's Oake on the Water will feature musical guests Meiko and Selah Sue.

Meiko's newest album "The Bright Side" was released just last week and features hit tracks such as Leave the Lights On and Stuck on You. Her appearance today is a rare chance to see the soulful singer/songwriter live, as she has no other conerts scheduled in the Midwest this year. 

Selah Sue's new single "Raggamuffin" is among the hottest songs on iTunes right now, and the Belgian songwriter recently performed a duet with Cee Lo Green and was featured in the latest edition of Rolling Stone.

As Oake on the Water wraps up, Fox Sports North and the Minnesota Twins will just be getting going next door at Maynards.

The Fox Sports North girls will be among those at Maynard's for this evening's viewing party, and fans will have a chance to win tickets and other prizes—as well as be on TV.
