Minnehaha Creek Watershed District Hosts Upcoming Open Houses
Community members can also weight in online about what's important to them when it comes to the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District.
The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) wants the public to weigh in on clean water and is hosting three open houses in locations across the district to find out what aspects of protecting clean water are important to community members.
The input will provide valuable insight as the District develops a strategic plan for long-term management and protection of local water resources.
“These open houses are the perfect chance for community members to let us know what’s important to them when it comes to watershed management and achieving clean water,” Jim Calkins, MCWD President said. “For some, it might be more aquatic invasive species prevention—or for others, it could be a need for more environmental education. Whatever your concerns may be, please weigh in so we have a better understanding of what our communities need, and we can achieve it."
Meetings will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. with a brief program at 7 p.m. as follows:
- Wednesday, Feb. 13: Bakken Museum, Minneapolis (3537 Zenith Ave. S.)
- Wednesday, Feb. 20: Victoria City Hall, Victoria (7951 Rose St. Victoria)
In addition to open houses, MCWD is also accepting feedback online. Community members can weigh in by taking a brief survey at: www.WeighInOnCleanWater.com
“As a special unit of local government, the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District is an accountable, transparent and responsible steward of the resources in its care. The community feedback we will be receiving throughout this process is very important to us and we greatly appreciate your participation,” Calkins said.
