John "Jack" Inglis of Minnetrista has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers—the Eagle Scout Award.

Inglis will be recognized in ceremonies on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Bethel United Methodist Church of Mound.

A member of Troop 569, Inglis is one of approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Scoutmaster Joe Nastepniak.  

Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community or church-related service project to earn his Eagle; Inglis chose to reconstruct a meditation labyrinth on the grounds of Bethel Church.

He has served in various leadership positions including Scribe, Senior Patrol Leader and Den Chief, and he is a member of the Order of the Arrow. Inglis is a third-generation Eagle Scout. His grandfather, Steve Inglis, and great uncle, Jim Inglis, became Eagles in 1931. His father, Jim, and uncles Steve and Tom Inglis, became Eagles in 1966.

Inglis, an AP Scholar with Honor, is active in cross country, track, National Honor Society and is a captain of the Nordic Ski Team at Mound Westonka High School, where he is a senior.  

He was a 2011 Minnesota Boys State delegate and is a PSEO student at the University of Minnesota. He is the son of Jim and Tracy Inglis of Minnetrista, and the grandson of Lorrayne Schoenecker of Mound.
